Experiment 10 - Gamma

[ The elevators do not take you up to your living area. Rather, they take you DOWN, to a small room with three white walls, and one that is a thick, translucent plastic. There appears to be a chute of some sort behind the plastic wall. ]

Now, in order to determine how well you know each other, we're going to see which teams are the most popular. The rules are simple:

* At the end of the test, each team will suffer an attack. Each attack will kill about half of everyone present.
* You may choose one team (other than your own) to defend from this attack. A team that is defended will not be harmed.
* If you wish to defend yourself instead of another team, you must choose a team to attack.
* You may not refuse to choose.

I'm pretty sure each team gets one vote. And I think more than one vote for any team is pointless, so it's a matter of trying to cover as many people as possible, by predicting what the other teams would do. Unfortunately I'm coming up short on that.

...The problem with that is most everyone will be thinking that way, if they've got any sense.

Do you think Beta will be protected?

Do we even know other teams well enough to begin to make that call? I don't.

I'm not entirely sure... I've met a few Beta members, but I don't know if they have connections with people on other teams that would want to vote for them.

Is there someone on Beta you're worried about?

I can understand wanting to protect someone you have feelings for - I know that desire extremely well. So I don't blame him.

I wish I did, but I don't have the first clue.

...As far as I can tell, they're just a bunch of jerks. So somehow I doubt other teams would vote to protect them.

...Beta is a team of jerks. Do you think anyone would protect them?

The same goes for Alpha, but if that's your reason, I can understand. Do you think Beta would protect itself, then?

... I don't know. Coulson seems pretty well-liked. And he died once already, so I imagine his friends would want to be extra careful this time.

I can't either. It's maybe not the same kind of feeling, but if it was a friend, or... my family, then... I'd probably do the same thing.

....No, I think that Coulson guy would definitely want to protect a different team.

Fair enough.

Agreed. I guess I should explain my reasons for Delta...

It's because I don't think the new people will be able to cope with dying very well. Not that I expect everyone or anyone to cope with dying well, period, but I'm worried about them.

Wally wants to pick Iota, because Cassie's there, and... she's great, and she is a civilian, so I can't blame him. Takuto's leaning towards Delta. And I don't know what to do at all.

Mmm. But luckily Wally is here, yeah?

Era or Beta might, I dunno. Thor, Loki, and Darcy are from the same place as Coulson and them, so...

...Yeah, Delta probably makes sense. But would other people vote for them for the same reason?

But now I'm wondering if someone else will do it for the same reason. Beta seems more likely to left open... and Alpha will probably vote for themselves.

That's what I'm wondering about. Maybe I should think about teams that nobody would vote for... but I think Alpha would vote for themselves.

...Out of those two, which would you prefer?

I need to know the other teams well enough to guess who they'd pick. Who their friends are. And I don't.
