Experiment 10 - Zeta

[ The elevators do not take you up to your living area. Rather, they take you DOWN, to a small room with three white walls, and one that is a thick, translucent plastic. There appears to be a chute of some sort behind the plastic wall. ]

Now, in order to determine how well you know each other, we're going to see which teams are the most popular. The rules are simple:

* At the end of the test, each team will suffer an attack. Each attack will kill about half of everyone present.
* You may choose one team (other than your own) to defend from this attack. A team that is defended will not be harmed.
* If you wish to defend yourself instead of another team, you must choose a team to attack.
* You may not refuse to choose.

[well, shit. pacing up and down the room, hand covering her mouth. she can't make this decision by herself, but how the hell...]

Are we attacking or defending?

[blurts it out]

[nods, though it's clear from the frown that's not what she was hoping he'd say]

Do we know what teams are missing people?

[prideofabh]

Agreed. I'm not going to attack a neutral party just because this machine is threatening us. I know who my enemies are, and I will not yield to her.

[knighting]

[agrees with lafiel in every way]

I know Gamma is missing two people.

[foil]

[just holds off with his hand covering his mouth]

A lot of people are going to die--

they are. Remember that, and remember who is ultimately responsible.

[cloak_and_sniper]

So, are we going to defend Gamma?

[foil]

Would it be smarter to defend a team with everyone present?

[cloak_and_sniper]

Not if they think we're attacking and try to attack us. The AI might use less fire-power against them too, seeing as there's fewer.

She didn't exactly spell out her methods, did she?

[cloak_and_sniper]

Guesses are all we have to go on.

[prideofabh]

Yes. Given the control she has over this facility, her methods aren't exactly limited.

[foil]

Do you think less people will choose Gamma?

[prideofabh]

I don't know the dynamics well enough to tell.

[knighting]

[stands quietly by, hand clenching and unclenching for his sword]

[cloak_and_sniper]

[puts a hand on his shoulder. doesn't say anything just... waits]

[foil]

Where does that go? [hand pressed against the plastic, looking at the chute]

[cloak_and_sniper]

I'm guessing that takes us to whichever team we choose to defend.

[foil]

[he definitely does not like the sound of that, in fact, he's got to sit down a moment]

[cloak_and_sniper]

[watches him silently, but she's ready to dash over if he freaks out. again]

[foil]

[grits his teeth, not alright with half of the people in this room potentially dying]

Elliot, are you sure?

[knighting]

[looks at] Leo I can't let anyone die if I can help it.

[foil]

[knighting]

[grips his shoulder but doesn't say anything; he can't say he'll be alright because he doesn't know]
